Holy Closest-Season-Ever! Coming down to the wire with a huge majority of us still viable! What a season.
So, if I looked at it correctly, after this week...
Unforgivable 8-4
Zor 7-5
Rat 6-6
Fresh 5-7
KPie 3-9
Cball 8-4
Goon/Lean 8-4 or 7-5
Vern 6-6
Flo 2-10
I don't even like thinking of all of the possibilities. I'll leave this up for the Zor to do his math. C and Unforgivable play next week... one of them will be 9-4. They are in. The loser would be 8-5. The rest of us, well, looking at our matchups... a bunch of us could be fighting for those two other 8-5 spots to round out the 4. However, with a Zor loss to Rat and the loser of Goon/Lean tonight losing again to Vern, let the 7-6 take the final spot. Jam... I think. My head hurts... I just hope Cam doesn't suck tonight.
good summary, lecter. everything looks right. assuming you win tonight (which is very likely, since scam will have to throw to steve smith), we've got this:
ReplyDelete1) There are 32 possible scenarios for the final week of the regular season(5 games, 2 possible outcomes each)
2) 16 of these scenarios end with exactly four teams at 8-5 or better, thus making the playoffs
3) 8 of these scenarios end with MORE than 4 teams at 8-5 of better, which means the 8-5 teams (either 3 or 4 of them) will battle amongst themselves for the two or three spots using the "points for" stat. for this to happen, zor has to beat rat AND goonie has to beat vernon.
4) 8 of these scenarios end with FEWER than 4 teams at 8-5 or better, which means the 7-6 teams (either 4 or 5 of them) will battle amongst themselves for the FINAL playoff spot using the "points for" stat. for this to happen, rat has to beat zor and vernon has to beat goonie.
5) no team is safe as of this point, though balls is as close to safe as it gets. theoretically, though, having a horrible week while certain others have fantastic ones, it's still possible.
what a season.
I just feel bad for my dad... he has put up pts constantly, but whoever plays against him puts up more. Poor unfortunate soul.
ReplyDeletenot that it matters, but #4 from above needs an edit. There are only 4 teams that could tie at 7-6, not 5.
ReplyDeleteand regarding your comment, balls, need I remind you why we play the game.
no one's playing to put up the most points. best offenses alone don't assure victory. and also, you've got to play each and every week. doesn't matter if the pats run up the score on the titans -- those points certainly didn't help them with the cardinals, now did they?
